ISOLA DI SERPENTARAThe Serpentara Island is located opposite the beach in Villasimius. You can reach it by boat or with the many organized excursions from the port of Villasimius. The easiest access point is called the Cove beach landing in the north-west. The island shows a bottom view of cliffs and rocks whose shape resembles a snake, and this morphology is probably the origin of the name. To the south of the island, you see clusters of yellow granite, gray and pink, finely eroded by the wind. Serpentara is dominated by a tower, the Tower of St. Louis, from which you can admire the entire coast of Villasimius. The Mediterranean flourishes giving shelter to several species of animals including rabbits, lizards but also gulls, shags and dolphins, an integral part of the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara. Sailing, fishing and diving are controlled by the operator and forbidden in some areas.
