ISOLE TREMITIThis small archipelago north of the Gargano emerges from the waters of the Adriatic as a group of nymphs fascinating. Since 1989, its waters, its incredible colors and transparencies, are marine nature reserve since 1995 and have become part of the Gargano National Park. Clusters of limestone cliffs, inhabited already in the Neolithic, form the islands of San Domino, the largest, St. Nicholas, the town hall, Capraia and Pianosa uninhabited and away, as well as some rocks including Cretaccio. Along the cliffs of San Domino are attractive caves with shimmering waters and the Grotta del Bue Marino was once a refuge of the monk seal. The archipelago, which is connected by regular ferry services with Termoli (Molise) and Rhodes Garganico, its economy based on the production of grapes, olives, vegetables and fruit, fishing and, mainly, on tourism.
