Coast of the Cedars is the name that identifies a strip of territory Alto Tirreno Cosentino in Calabria including, traditionally, also a part of the mountain territory that is located immediately behind the coastal zone.
The name derives from the widespread cultivation of varieties of cedar cedar smooth Diamond, a precious citrus cultivation difficult and that in this area in the past it was also grown in small plots of land.
Always in the past, there were a number of crops in the coastal area of cedar and some processing industries.
Currently, the production has been enhanced thanks to the synergistic action of the Consorzio del Cedro di Calabria, a body that brings together more than 100 cedricoltori, and arises as a driving force of the economy of the Riviera. Its action is given to the protection, conservation, enhancement and marketing of precious citrus.
