To the north, the territory back to expand to include the entire valley of the Sesia River, which was spectacular theater of the world canoe and kayak championships in 2002, has always been loved by sportsmen for the fabulous features for the practice of water sports and for its rich fishing waters.
The Sesia Valley, “the greenest valley in Italy” at the foot of Monte Rosa and in winter fully satisfies the expectations of snow-lovers: you’ll be spoiled for choice by the plants of Alagna’s paradise freeride, which are part of the Monterosa ski area, to new installations of Alpe di Mera, reached by chairlift from Scopello. Even cross-country skiers can choose between several opportunities: the track located near Scopello, the ring of more than ten kilometers from Riva Valdobbia and Alagna and the approved for national competitions in Carcoforo.
And that’s not all: the Sesia Valley offers beautiful scenery for hiking and trekking in a unique environment, in which the ancient traditions of the villagers have been handed down in perfect harmony with nature. Among the most picturesque routes: the ascent to the Regina Margherita hut, the highest in Europe at 4554 m, or walks through the Walser villages of Val Grande, Val and Val Sermenza Mastallone.
