LE BARUFFE CHIOZZOTTEBarney chiozzotte (or Barney Chioggia, or, simply, The chiozzotte) is a comedy written by Carlo Goldoni. Her first staged, planned for release by Piero Chiari in the Official Veneta January 23, 1762, took place at the Teatro San Luca in Venice at the end of the same month of that year; was then taken up at the next Venetian carnival. It is considered one of the most successful plays by Goldoni and part – along with other masterpieces such as The rusteghi and La casa nova – the so-called comedies of Venetian setting, final works of the Italian experience of the author before moving to Paris. The text has been transposed to the musical theater of the same name in an opera by Gian Francesco Malipiero.
