Lake Trasimeno is a landscape shaped by man. The sweetness of the surrounding hills and the typical ecosystem make it a space of exceptional beauty. A network of trails and staging points for hiking, horseback riding, cycling, bird observation huts, connecting with a ferry service between the major towns and islands make it a prime destination for tours and excursions. The park is the tool to protect and enhance the body of water, its three islands: Polvese, Minor and Major and its banks. The Trasimeno has historically been called “the lake of Perugia” and this definition makes it clear the importance of the lake basin has always had and has for all of Umbria and the north-western region of the Tuscan Chiana.
