WALTER BONATTIWalter Bonatti (Bergamo, June 22, 1930 – Rome, 13 September 2011) was a mountaineer, explorer and journalist Italian. He was nicknamed “The King of the Alps”. In addition mountaineer and mountain guide, was the author of several books and numerous articles in which he narrated his experiences of exploration and adventure in the most inaccessible regions of the world acting as correspondent for the weekly Epoca, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. He died in the night between 13 and 14 September 2011 at the age of 81, died of pancreatic cancer fulminant. Its large company turns out to be the firm K2, along with fellow Ardito Desio, Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli; who arrived on the summit of K2 with its 24 years, proving to be the youngest of the expedition.
